Add PostgreSQL Tool to AI Agent

Quick Start

Install Dependencies

Make sure you have Node.js installed, as the MCP server requires it: 

pip install praisonaiagents mcp

Set up PostgreSQL

Ensure you have PostgreSQL running locally or specify your PostgreSQL connection URL.

Create a file

Create a new file postgres_agent.py with the following code:

# PostgreSQL connection string

Run the Agent

Execute your script:

python postgres_agent.py

Requirements

  • Python 3.10 or higher
  • Node.js installed on your system
  • PostgreSQL server running locally or remotely
  • OpenAI API key (for the agent’s LLM)
